Add a smart, professional and long-lasting finish to your clothing with our in-house embroidery service in Chesterfield.

At Not Just T-Shirts, we embroider workwear, uniforms, polo shirts, hoodies, jackets, fleeces, caps and many other garments for businesses, schools, clubs, teams, charities and organisations.

There is no minimum order on most embroidery jobs. Whether you need one personalised garment, a small uniform order or clothing for a larger workforce, our friendly team will help you choose the right garments and create the best possible embroidered finish.

All embroidery is completed at our Chesterfield premises, giving us control over the quality of your order from artwork approval through to production.

What Is Garment Embroidery?

Garment embroidery uses coloured thread to stitch your logo, business name or design directly onto the clothing.

Before your logo can be embroidered, it is converted into a specialist embroidery file. This tells our embroidery machines where to place each stitch, which thread colours to use and the order in which the design should be produced.

Embroidery creates a professional, textured finish that is particularly suitable for workwear, uniforms and garments that will be worn and washed regularly.

It is commonly used for left-chest business logos, staff names, job titles, club badges, school logos and larger designs on the back of garments.

Why Choose Embroidery?

Smart, Professional Appearance
Embroidery gives clothing a premium, established appearance. It is an excellent choice for businesses that want staff uniforms to look smart, consistent and easily recognisable.

Durable Finish
Because the design is stitched directly into the garment, embroidery is highly durable and suitable for clothing that will be worn and washed regularly.

Ideal for Workwear and Uniforms
Embroidery works particularly well on polo shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, fleeces, softshell jackets, work jackets, shirts, aprons, caps and many other uniform garments.

Consistent Branding
Once your embroidery design has been set up and approved, the same file can be used for future orders. This helps keep your branding consistent when new members join your team or replacement garments are required.

Wide Choice of Thread Colours
We stock a broad range of professional embroidery threads and will select the closest suitable colours for your logo.

What Garments Can Be Embroidered?

Embroidery can be added to a wide range of garments and accessories, including:

Polo shirts
A popular choice for business uniforms, hospitality teams, schools, clubs and organisations.

Hoodies and sweatshirts
Suitable for workwear, team clothing, school leavers, clubs and casual staff uniforms.

Fleeces and softshell jackets
Ideal for outdoor workers, tradespeople and teams who need warm, practical branded clothing.

Work jackets and bodywarmers
Durable options for businesses that need professional outerwear throughout the year.

Shirts, blouses and aprons
A smart choice for offices, hospitality businesses, salons, cafés, restaurants and customer-facing teams.

Caps, beanies and selected bags
Many accessories can also be embroidered, although the available design size and position may be more limited.

Not every garment is suitable for embroidery. Lightweight, waterproof, heavily padded or unusually shaped products may require additional testing or a different decoration method. We will always advise you before production.

Logo Digitising and Embroidery Setup

Before we embroider a logo for the first time, it normally needs to be converted into a specialist stitch file. This process is known as embroidery digitising.

Digitising is more than simply changing the file format. The design must be carefully planned so the stitch direction, density, order and underlay produce a clean and stable result on the garment.

A one-off setup charge may apply for a new logo. Once the file has been created and approved, we keep it securely for future repeat orders.

Basic text-only embroidery can often be set up without a separate digitising charge, depending on the wording and font required.

Thread colours can normally be changed on future orders without creating a new embroidery file, provided the design itself remains unchanged.

What Artwork Do I Need for Embroidery?

A clear, high-quality logo helps us produce the best embroidery result.

Vector files such as EPS, PDF, AI or SVG are ideal, but they are not always essential. We may also be able to work from a high-resolution PNG, JPEG or other clear image file.

Low-resolution screenshots, photographs of clothing and small images copied from websites may not contain enough detail to reproduce your logo accurately.

If your artwork is unsuitable, we can often redraw or tidy it up for a small additional charge.

Embroidery has different limitations from printing. Very small lettering, thin lines, complex gradients and tiny details may need to be simplified so the design stitches clearly.

We will always discuss any recommended changes with you before production.

Logo Testing and Artwork Approval

We provide a digital artwork mock-up showing the planned position and approximate size of your embroidery before production begins.

New embroidery logos are also tested so we can check the stitching, thread colours, detail and overall appearance.

Where necessary, we will adjust the embroidery file to improve small lettering, outlines, spacing or other fine details before completing your garments.

Production will normally begin after your artwork has been approved and full payment has been received.

Can I Supply My Own Garments?

Yes. We can embroider many suitable customer-supplied garments.

We will need to inspect or confirm the garment type before accepting the order. Some fabrics, linings, pockets, seams, waterproof coatings and padded areas can make embroidery unsuitable or restrict where the logo can be positioned.

Customer-supplied clothing is decorated at the customer’s own risk because replacement garments may not be available if an unexpected fault occurs during production.

We also supply thousands of garments from trusted workwear and clothing brands. Choosing garments through us means we can recommend products that we know are suitable for embroidery.

Embroidery Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a minimum embroidery order?
There is no minimum order for most embroidery jobs. We are happy to help with one garment, a small uniform order or a larger quantity.

How much does embroidery cost?
The price depends on the size and complexity of the design, the number of stitches, the embroidery position, the garment and the quantity required. Send us your logo and order details for an accurate quotation.

Do I have to pay a setup charge every time?
No. A digitising charge may apply when a new logo is set up, but the approved embroidery file can normally be reused on future orders without another setup charge.

Can you embroider individual names?
Yes. We can add staff names, initials, job titles and other personalised text to suitable garments. Additional charges apply for individual personalisation.

Can I mix garment sizes and colours?
Yes. Most orders can contain a mixture of sizes, garment styles and colours, subject to product availability.

Can you match my exact brand colours?
We will choose the closest suitable embroidery thread colours from our available range. Because embroidery thread and screen colours are different materials, an exact colour match cannot always be guaranteed.

Is embroidery better than printing?
Neither method is always better. Embroidery is often preferred for professional left-chest logos and durable workwear, while DTF printing may be more suitable for large, detailed or full-colour designs. We will recommend the best method for your order.

How should embroidered garments be washed?
Follow the washing instructions supplied with the garment. Washing inside out, avoiding harsh bleaching products and not ironing directly over the embroidery can help protect both the garment and the design.

Can I reorder the same design later?
Yes. We keep approved embroidery files for future use, making it easy to order clothing for new staff or replace existing garments.
