Print or Embroidery on Hi-Vis? Our Honest Advice

There's no single right answer. It depends on the garment and how it'll be worn.

Vests & waistcoats: DTF or vinyl print

Hi-vis vests and waistcoats are printed using DTF transfer or vinyl. Their thin and open-mesh fabrics aren't suited to stitching, and DTF or vinyl gives a crisp, bright logo on the front and a clear company name, phone number or website across the back.

Heavier hi-vis: embroidery

Embroidery gives a smart, hard-wearing finish and suits heavier hi-vis such as polos, sweatshirts, fleeces, bodywarmers and jackets. Embroidered hi-vis is popular for supervisors and customer-facing staff.

Logos stay off the reflective tape

We place your branding on the fluorescent fabric, clear of the reflective bands, so the garment keeps doing its job.

Padded & waterproof jackets

These can limit where we can stitch, as needles go through the lining. Several of our jackets have embroidery access at the hem, and we'll always advise before production.

Hi-Vis FAQs

Does adding a logo affect hi-vis compliance?

Decoration shouldn't cover the reflective tape or large areas of fluorescent fabric, so we keep logos a sensible size and clear of the bands. If your site or client has branding rules, let us know and we'll work to them.

Do you have a minimum order?

Most jobs have no minimum order, whether it's one vest or a hundred. Larger quantities attract discounts.

Is there a set-up charge?

Logo set-up is a one-off charge, so repeat orders have free set-up. New customers pay a £20 + VAT set-up charge on orders under £150 + VAT.

How long will my order take?

Usually 7–10 working days from artwork approval and payment. Quicker turnaround is sometimes possible depending on workload and stock, so just ask.

How do you add a logo to a hi-vis vest?

Hi-vis vests and waistcoats are printed using DTF transfer or vinyl, which suits their thin and mesh fabrics.

Should I choose embroidery or print?

Print (DTF or vinyl) for vests and mesh waistcoats. Embroidery for heavier garments such as polos, sweatshirts, fleeces and jackets.

Can you add individual names?

Yes, we can add staff names, initials or job titles to suitable garments. Extra charges apply for individual personalisation.

Are your garments EN ISO 20471 certified?

Many are. For example, the product pages for the Uneek UC801 vest and UC804 bomber, and the Yoko YK015 polo, YK104 mesh waistcoat, YK105 jacket and YK060 fleece jacket, state they conform to EN ISO 20471. The class varies by garment, so check the product page or ask us which ones suit your site.

Do you deliver?

Yes. Free UK mainland delivery on orders over £150 + VAT, or £7.95 + VAT below that.
